The house today
For decades, the villa has been listed in the Municipality of Es Castell's catalog of protected historical heritage. Over the years, it began to show more signs of the relentless damage caused by the salty seawater and the damp winds that mercilessly lash the island, especially during the colder winter months. A group of people of different ages, from diverse backgrounds and with varied experiences—but united by their strong sense of adventure and tremendous determination—decided to found the association La Meridiana - Casa Italia in order to bring the villa back to life.
A meticulous conservation-focused renovation was carried out over a two-year period, with the aim of preserving the soul of the villa. All of the work was carried out by the founding members and their friends. This enormous collective effort has fostered a strong sense of community very much in keeping with the spirit that animates the Association and the villa.
